10/31/2022 - Trick or Treat Night for the Village will be on Monday, October 31 from 6-7:30 pm.

Trick-or-Treat takes place rain or shine and will not be cancelled or postponed in the event of inclement weather.  Parents and guardians are advised to use discretion when deciding if it is appropriate for their children to be out trick-or-treating based on inclement weather conditions.

Below are some helpful Halloween safety tips:

  • Children under 12 should have an adult along to supervise.  If a child is old enough to trick-or-treat without an adult, he or she should still go with a group of friends and they should stick to familiar houses and neighborhoods.
  • Children should wear light colored clothing short enough to prevent tripping.  Adding reflective tape to costumes and outer garments will increase visibility.
  • Consider bringing glow sticks and flashlights as well. This tip is two-fold — you want to be visible to others so they see you crossing the street or coming down the sidewalk, and you’ll appreciate the extra light when trying to maneuver up unfamiliar steps, sidewalks and streets
  • Remind children never to enter a stranger’s house or vehicle.
  • Drive slowly and schedule trips so as to avoid the times of heavy pedestrian traffic.
  • Closely check all treats at home is a well-lit place.  Remove all opened candies or treats not in their original wrappers.
  • While the lure of a decorated house across the street can be tempting, it’s important to stay on track and cross only at corners or in crosswalks
  • While food tampering is very rare, going through the goodie pile at the end of the night is important so your child doesn’t eat anything they shouldn’t.
  • Report any suspicious or criminal activity to the police immediately.
